PEI provided an Opto22 Remote I/O panel, Rosemount Magnetic Flowmeter and Allen Bradley Stanchion-Mounted Strobe Light. The strobe light is energized and alerts operators if any of the six heat trace controllers enters an alarm state whether due to failure or low temperature indication while the flowmeter provides indication as to direction and amount of potable water flow across the spillway.

Emery & Sons has been the General Contractor for this project, which has included the installation of new reactivated sludge pumps and scum pumps. Portland Engineering has been responsible for furnishing two Major Modicon remote IO panels, associated fiber equipment, and start up assistance for all equipment. The project required construction of a new infiltration basin along modifications to the existing basins. Modifications to the existing aeration basins (adding new disc aerators), chlorine contact chamber, chlorine feed system and upgrade to the existing de-chlorination system was also performed as part of this contract.

PEI was the general contractor for installing three-300 HP Variable Frequency Drives at an existing wastewater pumping station. PEI provided all of this project’s required hardware including the VFD’s to interface with the existing PLC.
The drives were purchased as open drives, and installed in custom panels designed and provided by PEI, complete with hardwire interlocking for permissives and alarming. PEI had success with providing a separate hardwired back-up panel to assume all controls, as there had been occurrences of liquid levels or PLC failure prior to the installation.
PEI provided all scheduling activities for drive installation and testing while the station remained operational. As general contractor, trade bids for electrical, concrete, miscellaneous piping, and painting were solicited. The qualified professional contractors were hired under PEI’s umbrella.
